Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Metal!

Hello One, Hello All!  Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ... The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your lucky week!
This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... some Metal! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! To start you on your way... take a look at some inspiration from the Design Team ...
Lynne Forsythe
hhhhmmm "some Metal" you say.....well Lynne wondered if you could use a border punch with Ten Second Studio Metal....and by golly you can, that was how she created her roof for her "Spring Themed" bird house. She covered the house with G45 Once Upon A Springtime papers using Multi Medium. See her flowers, the stems are Memo Pins with various flower heads attached with Glossy Accents. Are you loving the whimsical Wings....the total finishing touch to her bird house.
Linda let the metal do all the fancy work on this otherwise simple card. Using the mocha metal from Ten Seconds Studio she embossed it with the Big Daddy Baroque Metal Mold and a paper stump blending tool. The simple paper flower was made with the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die and the stamp on the tag is from the Crafty Secrets Sweet Kids stamp set.
Candy chose to combine all sorts of metal embellishments to create this victorian/steampunkish dress form piece. The skirt is five of Tim Holtz' bird cage die cuts wired together. The skirt and the shoulders are adorned with metal chains, and combinations of leaves and flowers from Tim Holtz' Foliage Ideaology and the smallest flower from Tim's Tattered Flowers die cut. At the bottom of the skirt, more metal...from Tim Holtz' Ideaology line. The Maya Road Small Organza Ribbon Roses on the skirt and shoulders are sprayed with Perfect Pearls Mist Copper Glimmer Spray.
This week's challenge got Nancy thinking about Ten Seconds Studio metals again. The frame is an on-sale $1 frame, painted with a brown dabber, then inlaid Ten Seconds Studio Chocolate metal after running it through the Big Shot with a Ten Seconds Studio Kabuka mold. A vintage piece of lace was used to decorate the corner, but it needed some *pop* so used a flower die-cut with Clearly For Art to raise the lace and give it more form. A Tim Holtz metal flower, a pearl brad, a memo pin with an adage ticket and thin strips of metal complete the flower.
Sarah decided upon a triptych where metal meets antique, to celebrate female pioneers in the 1850s. Cardboard packing blocks were collaged with dictionary pages using Claudine Helmuth Matte Multi-Medium and Gesso, stamped with Ranger Coffee Archival ink and Tim Holtz Stamps (Papillion and Urban Chic) and aged with Vintage Photo and Brushed Corduroy Distress Inks. Chip Block Alphabet Letters have been embossed, coloured and distressed by using Ten Seconds Studio metal, Ginger and Caramel Alcohol inks and a sanding block. The Tattered Florals die was used to make the row of rolled paper roses. Sarah used her own collection of bottle-tops, ephemera and findings but also added an Idea-ology Memo Pin. The pieces were finished with lace, ribbons, copper thread and more hand-made flowers. More details and photographs can be found on her blog.
Lori combined Ten Seconds Studio Rock Star Black Metal, Clearly for Art modeling film and Studio 490 stamp sets It's Face Art and Just Sew Artsy to dress up her "stubbie" (aka a chunk of 2 x 4 lumber)!

Kim
Kim decided to try out Ranger's new Metal foil tape sheet by embossing with Tim Holtz Regal Flourish Texture Fade folder. She then used it to cover a memo pad and used pitch black paint dabber to paint all over. Rubbed the paint into the metal with a cloth to bring out the raised design. The printer letter blocks were created using Tim Holtz Idea-ology Grungeboard alphabet soup letters with idea-ology grungeblocks. The same black paint dabber and vintage photo distress ink. Kim brushed a little silver to give the blocks a metalic effect. The cover has been steampunk'd with a few gears and some vintage watch parts. The inside book page has been inked with a little distress stain and Kim finished off the front with metal corners and a hitch fastener as a handle.
Terry decided to make a card with the embossing folder, the Distressed Stripes. She decided to make a metal-look on the top of the card and by using the The Tim Holtz Sizzix Die scroll work on the Edge Alterations, this way she gave the card that metal look. The borders are worked on with the Paper Distresser . She used lace from her own stash, placed the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Grungeboard Elements underneath the image, it is worked on with the Distress embossing ink and Embossing powder. The roses are worked on with Distress Stickles and on top she used a few Brads.
Spring’s just around the corner, right? Nancy C’s really looking forward to flowers blooming in her yard, so she created a spring scene on a tag, using Ten Seconds Studio’s Green metal with Tim Holtz’s On The Fence Sizzix Edge Alteration, Tim Holtz's Flights of Fancy & Mini French Connection Clear Stamps and one of her favorite little girl images.
When he started to create a frame for last week's challenge piece, Dan decided to encrust it with metal embellishments, in keeping with this week's theme. After painting his frame with a mixture of Red Pepper and Espresso paint dabbers Dan sanded it lightly, before raiding his embellishment box! He used Matte Medium to fix the metal onto the frame, and the embellishments he used include a selection from Tim Holtz's Idea-ology Word Keys, Muse Tokens, Pen Nibs, Game Spinners, Adornments, Keyholes, Locket Keys, Philosophy Tags, Sprocket Gears and Type Charms.
When I think metal ... I think Ten Seconds Studio metal ... which is what I have used to decorate this little papier mache box/book blank. After painting the book with Pitch Black Dabber I used Copper metal which I embossed using the Ten Second Studio Time Expressions mold and basic tools set with paper stump. I aged the metal with some more Black Dabber and then set to work playing with one of Wendy Vecchi's new Art Parts ... a few bits of Idea-ology and some Grunge Paper! Would n't it be great if making time really was this easy!
